Monkey King, as presented clearly and with charming British trappings by Julia Lovell, is a whimsical and magical romp through China with fun characters, a strangely amusing level of heavenly litigiousness, and a simple yet engaging plot. Also I love that this book (or at least this translation - I haven't read others) basically includes the prequel within the original book. Very fun.

A Chinese classic; it’s fun, whimsical, and an important cultural touchstone. This translation is more abridged than I would like but what can you do.
Highly recommend.
