First let me say this: for a debut, this is head and shoulders above average. This author keeps pace with every other author I've read for years. Additionally, she takes on a sensitive topic and handles it with grace and an eye for reality. I liked that a lot.

Generally speaking, this was enjoyable. I'm not always a fan of the 2 timeline thing, though - I don't think it always works because it throws off the pacing of the book. That happened once or twice here but it didn't ruin the entire book. The continuity was broken but appropriately so. She stopped at to change perspectives without leaving cliffhangers at the ends of chapters.

The narration was excellent. I haven't heard AJ Bridel before. I'm really picky about narrators so that was refreshing.

I don't think this author has reached Emily Henry status in my mind, but she's definitely on her way. I'll be reading whatever she writes next.
