Well this was scary, was not expecting that! It was a pretty enjoyable novella with a fascinating magic system (shocker). Madam Silence was a really interesting character, it's not often you have a middle-aged mom as the protagonist who has quite the dark side to her. Overall, I enjoyed it, it was a nice and quick read but it definitely isn't something I would return to.
Oh wow so this (and the very short White Sands excerpt in Arcanum Unbounded) were two brand new Cosmere systems for me. Very excited to see more of Threnody.
Very new tone woven into the same Sanderson writing style I know and love; it makes sense that this project was partially catalyzed by GRRM.
Loved it and I can’t wait to see more of the Shades and the human-level fallout of intergalactic wrestling matches between Shards.
