Tj Klune's style of humor isn't for everyone, but he just fucking works for me.

Full review to come.

4.5 Stars!

Classic Klune and when I say such I mean fucking ingenious humor that comes out of nowhere and bitch slaps you with the audacity, ridiculousness, and the honest truth. The guy has no shame and neither do his characters.

There are so many fabulous things to love despite this toeing (really, going over) the line on miscommunication and separation by years. It’s a testament that Klune can do this to me and not make me overly upset by it.

Darren surprisingly threw me for a loop. He’s no Otter (honey, no one is) but he’s quite the sexy beast, and I was shocked by my reaction to him. No complaints there tho. Nope. Vince comes in as a close second as the most loveable smartest clueless wonder of a human being. The guy is comedy gold.

Obviously, this was another win, and I look forward to the not-destination wedding at a horse farm. Oh just start the series if you haven’t already!!

I laughed through most of this book, but it was a bit too long for me, and considering how long it was, I wanted more of Darren and Sandy together time. Even when they were fake dating, they were either with other people or doing their own thing. I also would have loved to get Darren's POV. That may have helped me feel their connection more or I maybe could have seen more of the real relationship building from the fake one. I know they knew each other for years, but to me the I love you seemed quick since as I said, they didn't spend much actual time together in this one.

Sanford "Sandy" Stewart is the Queen (capital Q) when he performs as Helena Handbasket. She works a room and owns it; nothing can throw her off her game....except for that asshole Darren Mayne. He treated Sandy like garbage years ago and so Sandy has held that grudge to protect himself all this time. Despite the fact that Darren has never missed a single one of Helena's shows.
When chaos throws them together in an ill-advised fake dating scheme to help save the club Jack It from closure via a plea to Andrew Taylor (Darren's absent father (also Sandy's best friend's fiancé Vince's dad)), the pair find themselves feeling like fake the relationship is a lot more real.

This has been the series I've least looked forward to while reading the whole of Klune's backlog in the past few years. I sort of regret taking so long. While this will never be my FAVORITE series of his and it is entirely beyond belief with the over-the-top comedy, there still is, deep down, that incredible charm that Klune pumps into all of his characters.

4.5/5 rounded up.

I switched between reading and listening to this. The audio is FABULOUS, but I was too impatient to find out what happened next. Maybe next time, because I WILL be rereading this series! It made me laugh so hard and often!
