A Festive Feud

This was cute. I loved the forced proximity that resulted from Emma and Jackson’s families’ feud and needing to plan a Christmas party together. I did find the feud a bit annoying and there were a few too many spicy scenes that almost seemed out of place.

I absolutely loved this one and the whole Strawberry Hollow series! A Romeo and Juliet vibe as two families feud over a years long drama. Each family throws a holiday party each year and want the whole town to go to theirs vs the other family. The tension and all the spice in this one was perfection!

I adored this novella! Jackson and Emma were too cute. Jackson especially. Even though their families have been feuding for years, he’s always had a small crush on Emma. So when they’re forced to plan the annual Christmas party together, he can’t help but be a little bit excited but still very much annoyed. Their banter was cute and I liked the forced proximity aspect. Emma’s character was a little annoying to me, but by the end I liked her. The dogs were adorable too!

Me: “GIVE YOUR FMCS FEMALE FRIENDS!”

Cuteee and short Christmasy read. I love that there wasn’t a third act drama and the MMC didn’t make me want to file a restraining order for once.

Extremely small side note:
I love when there’s an air of reality to ground an otherwise entirely unrealistic plot. Do adult humans act like this in real life? Absolutely not. But when Jackson tells Emma he can’t spend the night because people in their small town will notice his car in the driveway and talk? Now that’s the realest shit I’ve ever read.

Aw this one was honestly so cute with some spice mixed in, just the way I like it lol

I didn’t like how the whole ordeal was based around the miscommunication trope because those are honestly the worst, like you’re ALL adults please just grow some balls and talk to somebody instead of throwing a fit for decades. It was petty but also brought some lightheartedness to the MCs as they took jabs at each other.

I loved the fast paced nature of the story but you didn’t really feel like you missed anything. That’s great writing and it just makes it so much more enjoyable when they don’t drag things out. Jackson and Emma were perfect for each other and the banter was a delight lol.

All in all it was lovely holiday read and really got me into the spirit and wanting to throw my own small town giant Christmas party haha
lighthearted fast-paced

Tropes:

This is smutty Christmas goodness. I’m such a sucker for a holiday novella and enemies to lovers, and this one hit the mark!

(Dual POVs)

Emma and Jackson both come with families with holiday traditions, but their traditions couldn’t be more different. Emma’s family always throws a black tie affair with champagne, a five course meal, and a piano. Jackson’s family’s party typically consists of ugly christmas sweaters, your traditional holiday dinner, and a band playing for entertainment. I enjoyed watching these two compromise and try to meet in the middle to honor both families’ traditions.

I loved that the pre-conceived notions these two had about each other were slowly dissipated and they were able to see who the other really was on the inside. I personally understood Emma’s need to be organized, and when Jackson learns it’s not due to her being uptight, he comes to understand her need for the post it notes and lists as well. Jackson may not come off as the most warm, but he has soft spots he doesn’t like to openly show, like the ones for his rescued dogs. When it came to Jackson’s feelings for Emma, I loved how quickly he disregarded the feud and how fiercely he demanded respect for Emma in the midst of gatherings.

I had an inkling about a specific detail of the decades-long feud between these two families, and I was happy when my inkling turned out to be correct. This one has been my favorite holiday read so far of this holiday season and I will definitely be needing a paperback copy for my shelves! Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope and everything about this one was executed perfectly, especially the banter, the steam, and the dirty talk. I’m definitely going to have to go back and read more from this author!
