Broken Dove

While not my favorite of the many KA books, Broken Dove still beats out most books I read. I mean we can't expect perfection 100% of the time. Isla has spent the last three years on the run, hiding from her husband. When he finally catches up to her she expects the worse, even though she has prepared for their meeting. What she doesn't expect is help in the form of the otherworldly Apollo & the gifted local Valentine.
Apollo lost the love of his life after too few years spent together. When he learns of a parallel universe, in which each person has a twin he thinks to bring his love back. Isla of our world is nothing like the love he lost, and it takes a while for him to realize that she is her own person, but still worth knowing and loving.

Hunh. I thought this was going to be a little different. I'm surprised there is another story.

So much just not happening honestly idk why I continued with this very boring and dry series the only one I thought was pretty good was the 2nd

"It's crucial, not only building something with someone, but maintaining it, to show you care about the things they care about. It is also crucial for you to demonstrate that you will handle their needs with care, just as they do the same for you."

“It’s my experience that a weakness understood is no weakness. If you know you have it, even if you can’t control it, you can make allowances for it. It is those who ignore or don’t understand their weaknesses who are wasted by them.”

I am loving this series so freaking hard, though that being said it’s not that I didn't like this book because I really did I just found it to be a little long winded, no that, that is or can be a bad thing. Just that I had wished the story would have progressed faster than it did.

What a perfect title for this book, Maddie really was a broken dove when we meet her. But she has fight in her a whole butt load of it. She wouldn't let anything get her down oh no freaking way. She fought with all that she had.

Apollo is a man who was broken himself, granted his was with grief but that’s still a kind of broken. When he saw Maddie his grief consumed him for a time but he learned that just because she looks like his beloved she is not. I really enjoyed hearing about this, getting to see him struggle with his feelings and how they were going to work things through.

Maddie… This woman has strength and courage of plenty but what she didn't have was faith in herself and getting to read how she did was pretty amazing. She really struggled with her own self-worth.
Fantastic book, it’s a story of growth, and learning to love again, for both of them really and the children.

I am sad to be starting book 5 that means we will be ending the series. But what a phenomenal job Tillie did with this narration.. I am stunned and in awe of how she can make everyone’s voices so very unique as they are in the story. I love it.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

★★ 1/2
Ahhh I'm kinda upset with this installment of the series. Maddie's story did NOT seem special, like at all, in fact it was kinda flat!!
The three women before her had their own special unique story, idk if it cause it was predicted that they would be coming but they got to be royalty with powers/ grace/ elve magic in their blood and they didn't really have a bad life before crossing over to the parallel universe.
Maddie on the other hand was living an abusive life with NOBODY to turn to and bam she's taken to replace someone else's life and then abandoned. She becomes friends with the men in charge of her but we don't really get details and but it's suggested that she has a bright personality that draws ppl to her.
Ummm ok, I can deal with this but after she reunites with Apollo again what happend to that personality?! She just gives in to him like wth... yea the sex scenes were more intense but wtfudge man (I need more than that to make a good story!!)!
I'm gonna stop ranting but this story didn't do it for me at all it could have & should have been just as good as the previous ones :-\ (I almost stopped reading it twice cause I was so upset.) Ahhhh >_<

Waited a while for this one. I was really interested to see how KA would handle Ilsa and Apollo's relationship, and she did it well. The "alright" rating has more to do with the pacing (pretty slow at times, and rambly in others. I really wish she had an editor). Bunch of typos in this one too, unfortunately. Not my favorite of this series, but if you're a fan, you should wrap up the majority of the story with this one. (I think there's one book left, and it's Noc's--which I'm excited about. I wonder who he's going to hook up with...?)

The others from the previous books make appearances in this one, and I liked that a lot. It just made me want to reread the others' books.
