UGH. I loved Say You Swear so I had such high hopes for this book.
Very similar to SYS, this book plunges you straight in with a ton of characters and trying to recall and remember who is attached to who and how - is super confusing. I think this was even more confusing than SYS and I've already met those characters so the fact I still struggled to place them here was difficult.
Payton is a single mom, and not by choice - her boyfriend passed in a tragic accident while she was pregnant. She had run to her brother after needing to escape her mom's home due to it being a toxic environment. She fell into the perfect found family that supported her and her soon to be son.
Mason is one of those people that supported Payton from the beginning.
I liked the flashbacks and how it caught up to present day. I think it took me until about half way into the book to finally understand Payton's present day actions and how she was responding to Mason but it was still hard to not be shouting at her through the pages.
Overall, it ended on a good note but it didn't have the same emotional pull that SYS had.

This was a great book. However, it does not quite add up to the awesomeness of the first one (Say You Swear), which, as we know, is often the case. I very much enjoyed the single mom trope in this one and the man who was always loved mother and son. We got a glimpse of this in the first book, and it was really neat to see all the characters together again.

Big surprise from this one. I cried and sympathized and was presently delighted by the plot of this book.

The back and forth of the past and present was just a bit much. I felt like we spent more time in the past and therefore the future felt short
slow-paced
Confusing timeline, too many sub characters. Sad because I loved the first book in this series.
