Mason is my new fave book daddy!
I really love Meaghan's writing style and was so excited for Mason and Payton's story after falling in love with the crew in Fumbled Futures Series and Say You Swear. While Say You Swear was a top-tier read, and I did enjoy this book as well, I feel it wasn't as great, but at the same time, I get that not all books are the same.
I loved the found family aspects and also adored how much Mason loved Payton, and little D ❤️ Mason really made the book, in my opinion. He is what ideal book boyfriends are made of; with his falls first falls hard attitude, his extreme protectiveness and devotion towards those he loves. Just loved his love for Payton and Little D.
I felt for Payton. She's a young single mom who is trying to navigate life after such a traumatic experience. Meaghan beautifully wrote her guilt and grief. SO MUCH ANGST! But at times, it was a little annoying how she would run away instead of talking to him. Miscommunication is always frustrating, lol

What bothered me about this book, was that neither character could really get out of their own way. It just seemed like indifferent aspects of their life. They were just nonchalant about how things were going their way. They just seemed to avoid their feelings pretty entire book which seemed dumb. Overall, the back-and-forth was kind of hard to follow at certain points. And when they ended up actually getting together, it felt very insta love like, even though they had been ignoring their feelings for a while. It also just threw me how quick he saw himself as the baby's dad. Felt odd to me.
Very cute and sweet book, loved how she went past and presented instead but seemed slow for a while.

I loved the concept and storyline—it had so much potential. However, the pacing was much slower compared to the first book in the series. The frequent flashbacks in nearly every other chapter felt unnecessary for showcasing the relationship development. I might return to it and finish it at some point in the future.

I am so sad this book fell so flat for me since I LOVED the first one.
Peyton dealt with so much trauma and grief so I understand that things take time but this book felt exceptionally drawn out. I know the MFC was a teenager but it felt extremely immature for someone that has gone through so much in their life. The WORST part was never saying the things out loud and the miscommunication.
Mason was wonderful and his LOVE for little D did make my heart happy.
*PS- this was my first audiobook so maybe I would have felt a little different if I read it traditionally
