I hate giving bad reviews about books because I always do my best to enjoy each one and learn about each character. But unfortunately I couldn’t with this one.
I loved Say you Swear (like love love). It’s one of my favourite books and when I heard that Mason was getting his I was overjoyed. I had so much expectations but while reading I was extremely disappointed. I think that at 15% of the book, I was bored and mad at Meagan because she made Mason for someone who was dealing with too much in her life and literally broke a huge promise 🥺🥺
I read this book till the end for Mason, Ari, Noah and Deaton (so goofy). I didn’t like Payton at all: I can’t like someone who says I can’t let you wait for me because I’m not ready but please, wait indeed. The girl, from the beginning to the end, was giving him too much hope and after that starts avoiding him so much and even tries to break the habit Mason had with her son. It broke my heart seeing him go through so much because my boy didn’t deserve that. And I know people grieves in different ways, but it was unfair for her to play this “pull and play” game with him knowing he was in love with her.
So yeah I really didn’t this second book and I’m not even sure I’m going to stick for the third one 🥺

This book had so many emotions. After reading the first book, it set a standard of what to expect, and I think that really messed my thought process while reading this one.
I love the characters and found family vibes you got in both book 1 and this one. My heart felt so warm while reading this book and learning more about the MMC. I felt like a lot of understanding of where his head was and what he was feeling was important. You knew he was protective from book one, but you understand why after reading this one.
I felt like the miss communication trope really hit heavy in this book. I got so frustrated just wanting them to talk it out vs running away from the situation. I had to keep telling myself that they were young adults dealing with adult situations. They had to grow up quick. My heart hurt for Peyton. I thought her character was written really beautifully.
What she went through was traumatizing and the way she was portrayed really showed that. The back and forth feeling of guilt for being happy. It was so sad to read but understandable. I can’t wait to see where this series goes from here.

Absolutely loved this one, maybe even more than Say You Swear! The will they won't they almost killed me, I was rooting for them but I understood Paytons reasoning at the beginning. I just kept thinking omg just do it! 😂 I loved how Mason was portrayed in this one as it just showed another side to him, and I loved every moment. Also, all the cute moments with little Deaton 🥹💕

Ripped my heart out. Highly recommend looking up a Spotify Playlist for this book to fully understand the emotions. I feel like those who didn't like the book didn't connect with feelings. Mason is not whiney or annoying. And Payton's actions are so understandable even if they are painful.
Also I hate that the author put Chase in yet another messed up position. Justice for Chase, he deserves happiness.

i had such high expectations for this book, because i lowkey loved mason before i even read this & the anticipation waiting for it was insane. i really liked it, but it definitely does not compare to say you swear. this is a SLOW BURN like literally SLOWWWWWW BURN.
it had all the emotions & angst, but it felt like it was missing more. both payton and mason needed a stronger bond for this to have been a 5 star read for me.
“I am a man in love with a girl … who is in love with someone else. But I can’t compete with a ghost, and her heart was buried along side the boy she gave it to. The father of her unborn son.”
