This was hard to rate. I loved these two together but the layout of the story made it hard to be pulled in. Mason’s complete devotion to baby Deaton was what sold me.

This is definitely a love story I hope I never experience. I don’t think I’d be strong enough to go through it.
Honestly this was a doozy. I felt so bad for Mason the entire time. You could really just feel how much of his heart didn’t belong to him anymore. He was so shattered and all he wanted to do was love someone who was in love with the Father of her child.
Payton and Mason has a love story that just seems to never work. It’s always something. I don’t think this was miscommunication… there was just no communication. Like at all!

This was my most anticipated book release of the year but it kinda fell flat for me. 1-⭐️ for Noah and Ari, 1-⭐️ Mason 1-⭐️ Baby Deaton. I loved the angst but I hated the slow burn aspect. I know it's because of their history and timeline but still, wasn't a fan.
Mason falls first, fast and hard and I loved the love that he had for baby D. Those scenes were precious! I also loved that Mason visited Big Deaton and made sure to honor his legacy (somewhat-like with the wrestling, finding the grave). He was also willing to wait forever for Payton and was down bad when she shut him out; I definitely shed a few tears.
What I didn't enjoy: FREAKING CHASE! I understand that Meagan is wanting to redeem Chase for all of his shortcomings in SYS but I feel like this wasn't the way to do it. Yeah he's sad and made some mistakes? Welp save it for his book. I wasn't sure why he needed to have such a big part in this story. All in all, I love MB and I will continue to read her books but this one was just ok.
