Let me just start by saying: if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like if a steamy corporate power struggle and a rom-com had a lovechild, The Takeover is that adorable, snarky baby.

T.L. Swain delivers a delightful punch of sass, strategy, and swoon in this office romance that makes you both root for the merger… and pray HR doesn’t find out. Our heroine? A whip-smart, coffee-fueled queen who can slay a boardroom presentation and your self-esteem in one breath. Our hero? All sharp suits, slow smiles, and “I’m not your boss but I could ruin your life or your lipstick—your choice” energy.

The tension is hotter than a malfunctioning copier in August, and the banter? Sharper than a stapler to the ankle. I laughed, I blushed, I may have fist-pumped in public. This book made me want to dust off my resume just in case there’s an opening at whatever fictional firm this is.

In conclusion, The Takeover is corporate warfare, romance, and comedic chaos all rolled into one high-heeled, briefcase-wielding package. Highly recommend for anyone who likes their love stories with spreadsheets, sabotage, and a side of sass. I loved the HEA.

MMC was a grade-A asshole. Also had inconsistencies (like FMC recognizing the ex one scene then not another) which were a bit confusing. The subterfuge plot was meh.

dumbest stupidest shit for plot and most of the character dialogue but the spice was consistent
