This is one of the later ones, and I had suspicions early on that proved to be correct. Still good, of course, but I like it best when I am shocked by the ending.

This was my first proper Christie novel - I'd read The Mysterious Mr. Quin, which is made up of short stories - and I definitely see why she is beloved. The plot structure is mostly perfect, with a few loose ends or nonsensical moves here and there. Her writing style serves the plot, which is perhaps why I haven't loved her books so far, as I'm much more interested in atmosphere and themes than in plot. I will admit she fooled me - I did not see the twist coming, despite trying my best to pay attention to little details! I'm certainly open to reading more Christie, although I won't be rushing to do so.

Endless Night is not the best romance or mystery, but it is undoubtedly a brilliant story of evil disguised as a loving embrace that will haunt the reader long after the last page.

One of Christie's own favorites, but not one of mine, I'm afraid.  I enjoyed the first two-thirds, but the ending felt rushed, especially the last couple chapters.  It wasn't that the set up for the final reveal wasn't there; the reader can spot the clues if they pay attention.  My issue is that the ending didn't feel believable because the killer seemed to go completely off the rails for no reason.
