I can see why this is Agatha Christie’s favorite book ,Brilliant !
If you think this book is slow and nothing happens, well, don’t stop ! Its worth in the end.

Pretty good, figured it out early on, but possibly have read it before.

Agatha Christie definitely knew how to write a plot twist... I don't think I've ever guessed the ending of one of her books, and this one was no exception.
I didn't love the narrator, and I thought the ending would have been stronger if it was a tad longer, but this was definitely an impressive, creepy book, and one that deserves more recognition in the Christie canon.

I thought it couldn't get worse than Hallowe'en Party. Well, I thought wrong.
The level of false-advertising/ wild-ly exaggerated marketing. The title to the covers to the description. The story was not at all what I expected and I don't mean it in a good way.
Expectations:
I thought this was going to be about a young couple and them residing in this house called Gypsy's Acre where bad things are said to happen. Everything about this book made it sound as though it'd be about the pair going through a series of bad luck, until it becomes apparent that it's no longer luck— until it becomes fatally bigger. A curse upon the house. Something absolutely evil about the house. And the young pair have to fax all the consequences. But in classic Agatha Christie fashion, we'll eventually get to know that nothing was ever haunted. That it was just someone behind all the creepy incidents. And it'd be unraveled in the most mind-blowing of manners.
Reality:
It's about this poor guy marrying this rich, sweet girl. And them literally not even setting foot inside this tale-full "house" (Gypsy's Acre) until the 50% mark of the story. And even when they do, they hardly spend ANY time within that house. The no.of times the words "Gypsy's Acre" was thrown around was surreal. I get that mystery novels tend to do that to throw the readers off the climax. But here it was so overdone, that I was led to anticipate the place and its curses. And it was ABSOLUTELY DISAPPOINTING that there were hardly any such scenes. And the final revelations that it was Mike who planned the whole thing? Absolutely lame. That's such an overused plot-twist that out of all the theories that popped into my head, it was one I carelessly disregarded coz I was like no way that this genius, mastermind Ms. Christie would stoop so low in a setting like this— I was like, no no this would all build up to some unimaginable twist. And the fact that Greta would've been a part of the scheme? Saw that one coming from the moment that name was first dropped, lol. I honestly wouldn't even have minded this stupid "plot twist" if the author hadn't dragged me around like an idiot for over 200 pages of a 248-paged book. I wouldn't have minded it if at least there was SOME scenes of the couple living in Gypsy's Acre and facing way too many creepy incidents— but nope, the only "creepy incident/ curse" they came across was the oldy gypsy lady "warning them off" bcoz of the said "curse". We didn't even get a proper tale of that house! Like what the hell. So so so disappointed. The only mind-boggling about this book was the amount of disappointment I felt. Even when there were 20 pages left and it was revealed that it was Mike who was behind it all, I was still waiting for the second "twist"...waiting for something truly epic to happen. Lol. What a fool I had been.
