I have a new “least favourite” Agatha Christie book (And Then There Were None was my former least favourite.). In this case, she overdid it getting into the mind of the killer. It did not feel believable. On the one hand, the killer is a cold-blooded psychopath, but then he gets totally overwrought and kills on a passionate impulse. It felt like Christie was trying too hard and I just didn’t buy it.

This was so well written. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's certainly different than the usual crime story. We could easily guess who was the killer (especially if you've read that other novel), but more importantly, Christie showed us what awaited them: an endless night.

I can’t decide if this book was brilliant or completely bizarre…either way, a pretty captivating story that held my interest. And I’m a total sucker for old-house-in-the-English-countryside settings…
