What a bizarre book. This book is very unlike most of Agatha Christie's other books. This book definitely had a creepy tone to it and was not a class "who done it" type of story. But leave it up to AC for a ridiculous twist you won't see coming near the end. It makes you think about the whole book differently.
Spoiler MIke really was a chilling character. So cold, calculating, and definitely something wrong in the head.
Not what I expected, but a good quick read.

This Christie is an uncommon atmospheric thriller. It's not quite a mystery and not quite a who-done-it, though there are elements of both. We don't get a dead body until about 3/4 of the way into the story, so the majority is onset--well written, eerily normal and tension building onset.

This is my first Agatha Christe read, and it was good. It reminded me a bit of Crime and Punishment, and thats one of my favourite books.
I must say I was disappointed at the begining, because I was expecting more form this author but the end... it was amazing. I will have to reread this book so that I can see all the signs leading to the end

A well-written “mystery,” but so dark by the end that I just wanted to close it up and forget it.
In this late-career book, Agatha builds VERY slowly and also reuses a trick. She does so competently enough, but at the same time it’s ridiculously easy to see through if you know what she’s done along these lines before.
I guess if you like True Crime podcasts or something, you might find this interesting? I didn’t like it. It’s serious and heavy and tonally bleak.
To be fair, I should note that this is one of the things that makes Agatha Christie so interesting as a writer… she can do the full range from comedy to nihilism. And I think that’s weird, but interesting. I just don’t like things that land too far on the bleak side.
