I wasn't sure if I was enjoying this to begin with but luckily I had a better experience with the second half. Christie's writing is brilliant as usual and her characterisation in this is particularly good. I accidently spoiled myself for the ending and I would've enjoyed it a little more had I not known what was coming, however I could still appreciate the mastery in setting it all up.

I was excited to read my first Agatha Christie novel, but this was a total bust. The actual murder doesn’t occur until around page 200 of 245, leaving little room to build up the mystery and suspense. Most of the novel is the main character sharing his inner most thoughts that are pretty boring, and—as it turns out—not all that relevant to the actual story.
