Have to admit, at first I didn't quite understand where this story was going, but then I started getting an idea. I was wrong because there were two twists at the end that I never saw coming...and one of 'em I don't even KNOW where it came from, but it pretty much told me that the entire story didn't even take place where I thought it did.

Billy and his friends Dawn and Dori are going to separate camps. Billy to a boys camp and the two girls to a girls camp. Eventually, the characters start calling their camps by 'Camp Nightmare.' People disappearing, weird sounds, and a 'forbidden cabin' that if this story hadn't been released before Harry Potter, I'd question if it was somewhat of a nod to the 'forbidden forest' despite being two very different things. Just saying the forbidden cabin reminded me of the forbidden forest in ways. The students can't go in it, either. Told to stay away from both. Horrible stories surrounding the history of both. etc.

Anyway, amid the normal activities that you may expect to do at camp, people get hurt, go missing, and Larry, their cabin counselor, eventually says that his bunkmates Colin, Jay, and Roger were not actual guys staying at the camp. He starts to question everything.

5 outta 5 stars for the two twists and thankfully not a lot of the usual "It's this. No it's this. NOPE IT'S THIS! OMG!"

Ok I really enjoyed this one. Probably one of my favourites so far. Nice little twist that I kind of half predicted.
It was damn entertaining and I loved it

Goosebumps. This is the series that kept me reading through my childhood. More than any other series, Goosebumps kept me interested in reading, and R.L. Stein is a wonderful children's writer. I applaud his efforts, and can't express enough my gratitude for the series.

Strange, Confusing and Disorientating, with a very surprising ending.

I think this is one of the best Goosebumps books in the series thus far. The story didn't feel remotely stretched, like in some of the previous books, and some of it was actually genuinely a little bit creepy. The twist at the end is of course super famous, and in some ways lessened my enjoyment a little bit because I knew it was coming, but it was still a great read.
fast-paced

I wasn't expecting the ending of this book. When I was reading it, I thought that I had read this story before.

I didn’t think things could get darker after Stay Out Of The Basement, but clearly I was wrong! Wooow. This was a ride. There’s something so sinister about you being the only one to know that something’s wrong and that you can’t trust the people around you, especially as a child. The twist at the end did feel a bit like a cop-out, though. It felt incredibly out of place. But I still really enjoyed myself and found myself on the edge of my seat while reading. There were so many tense scenes!
