Another terrifying Goosebumps book. I vaguely remember reading this one as a kid. It must have been too scary and I blocked most of it from my memory.
O.O
I did not see that coming. This woulda scared the bejebus outta me as a kid. Still creepy.

4.5 stars rounded down.
Goosebumps books are always fun, and this one is no exception. I was shocked by the very end because I really didn't see it coming. I would have never guessed what was revealed.
I really loved this one because it felt a little different from other Goosebumps books I've read, and I especially enjoyed the setting. Anything camp-related calls to me! This one was a real blast; I highly recommend it.

Much like how The Girl Who Cried Monster is R.L. Stine's Goosebumps take on The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Welcome to Camp Nightmare is seemingly R.L. Stine's Goosebumps take on the '80s slashers set in summer camp. There's even a scene ripped straight out of Friday the 13th (1980) featuring a snake in a bunk.
Welcome to Camp Nightmare is easily the most ridiculous and frustrating Goosebumps book I've read thus far. There's enough quirks thrown in to the narrative that lay the groundwork for the twist ending, but it's still utterly ludicrous. On the plus side, this is at least less repetitive than some other Goosebumps books I've read recently. I never have particularly high expectations for a Goosebumps book, but I audibly sighed at the end of this. This is, sadly, the worst Goosebumps book I've read (so far...).

I read this aloud to Scott while he played Pandemic on his iPad. He bought a whole lot of Goosebumps books off eBay and it was so nostalgic and funny. Amazing ending! But an insane amount of adverbs and descriptions of dew on the grass.
