3.5 stars — I liked the sapphic vampire vibes, but the construction of the story fell flat to me. I know it’s a classic and I did enjoy it! I feel like A Dowry of Blood will probably satisfy readers more however!

Reading it now it doesn’t feel amazingly written to me - I much prefer Dracula, and the main pov character feels very weak and ngl a bit stupid. However, it is iconic.
