Interesting audiobook, however, the stories started running together and lost its shock appeal midway through. Plus there were a lot of inconsistencies with the narrators.

I stopped reading this in early August and just haven't had the desire to pick it up sense. It started out quite fascinating, but become somewhat repetitive and uninteresting after awhile. I feel that this much have been better if the author chose only a few strange cases and talked about them in detail, as opposed to finding as many as possible.

The Mystery of Exploding Teeth is a fun read for those who like taking a deep dive down medical rabbit holes at 2am when they can’t sleep.
Humans (usually men) often do really dumb things and then seek out medical attention to undo the consequences of the dumb thing they just did.
If history teaches us anything, it’s that the vast majority of things we deem as cure/treatment are often proven at a later date to be anything but. (lobotomies, leeches, cigarettes, mercury, cocaine — and thats not even counting more modern stuff)

Anyone with even the slightest interest in Medical History should absolutely read this book.
It is genuinely hilarious.

FUN BOOK. Some of these cases are downright gut-wretching but what a read!
Throwing up worms, swallowing needles, passing swords in the washroom, spontaneously combusting - this book pulls no punches on the obscure and the outrageous - but all true.
I had to take a few mental breaks from this book as it was so gross at times!
But fun read, I'll say that again.
Just thank goodness we live in this time of modern medicine and that WERE NOT DOING SURGERY ON OURSELVES WITHOUT ANESTHESIA.
4.4/5
