I so wanted to like this book but it turned out to be super boring
adventurous
informative
Oh, this was so good.
It's very tongue-in-cheek, there's quite a bit that might gross some people out, but overall it's a marvellous and entertaining read, that might make you exclaim 'WTF?!' not just once.

I had a fun time with this book. It's funny and weird, but oh boy is it gnarly.
This book is something else! Some things you just can't "un-read"
Please be warned, many if these cases are very gnarly, gory and unpleasant. Although the commentary was often pretty cheesy, Thomas Morris provided helpful context into the state of medicine at the time and he did a very good job finding cases that are absurd, fascinating, repulsive and (occasionally) highly unlikely in medical journal canon. I found this book very entertaining.

Personally not a fan of the formatting with lots of direct quotes from historical papers. Audiobook helped.
It’s crazy to think about what we did 100+ years ago. Makes me wonder what advances we will have in the future that make our current techniques look barbarian!
