I really liked this book, it’s a good first to the series but while it did state that it was fast paced I definitely felt like certain things and conversations were rushed.

Kat goes through some major heartbreak, losing her entire family, but gains a cute baby dragon, Daeja (total fave—she gives me serious Andarna vibes). I was gasping left and right as Kat faced one challenge after another, and don’t even get me started on Cole—I had a bad feeling about him from day one (what was it? You’ll have to read and find out 😉). Darian, though? Ugh, full of himself 🙄. Marge rubbed me the wrong way at first, but by the end, I was totally on her side, and Archie is another fave. Kat’s a badass, and while the spice was fluffy, I barely noticed because the plot was that good. So much action, a love triangle that left me guessing, and some seriously great character backstory—I cried, like, twice. The world-building? Chef’s kiss. And OMG, that cliffhanger!! It’s hard to believe this is Courtney’s debut. Girl, I need answers, but take your time with book 2. If you loved Fourth Wing, this is definitely your next read!

It's absolutely beautiful! Very Fourth Wing-esque if you enjoyed that book!
For me, the thing I look for the most in a book is my brain's inability to find a gap. I maladaptive daydream a lot, which makes it hard to enjoy different forms of media because if mu brain sees a gap, it will derail me and attempt to fill it. That didn't happen once in this book.

Add it to your TBR ASAP, get a copy as soon as you can! This book was incredible! Courtney's debut novel had me turning the pages so fast. I devoured this book. From the first page, it gripped me. The ending?! HOLY PLOT TWIST. The romance isn't over bearing and adds to the story. Kat's adventure with Daeja and Cole, among the others she meets along the way are WELL worth the read. Spice:🌶️🌶️ Banter:👌😘 Character chemistry: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Also, not only is she the author, she's the artist!!!! Incredibly talented! I was left wanting more, and absolutely cannot wait for the next book in this series!
