Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of substance. This is a good book for someone looking for a light read or a brief overview of queer figures without going in depth. For the history-interested, I’d suggest other books. Then again, the writing and unseriousness wasn’t for me.

Disappointing. About a third of the very short short chapters are about characters from TV and other pop culture sources (that anyone picking up this book would already be well aware of). This is especially annoying given how many mythological stones are left unturned; most of the entries are about Greek mythology with only a sprinkling from other cultures, so there was no reason to stretch like that. I thought the authors overuse of buzzwords was annoying too (everyone is a zaddy or a twink or a problematic queen).

So the information in this book is pretty base level, giving a very brief overview of queer characters and people through history. The first half focuses mainly on the greeks, and then the second is a mishmash of different cultures. It felt super long, and is a good jumping off point, but don't expect anything indepth.
