I mean it’s a demon hunting soccer mom. What isn’t to love from this little bit of night time fluff?!

I read this a few years back and laughed out loud. It is just pure fun. A quick read, lots of laughs, and perfect for fans of Buffy. It really is probably a 3 star but the laugh factor and pure fun moved it into a 4 for me.

While I was mildly amused by the crappy title and demon-hunting soccer mom bit, I wasn't prepared for the onslaught of SAPPINESS that the bloody woman put the reader through: \Oh I love my husband sooooo much, he's sooooo sweet. Aww he's so adorable, he loves me even though I'm a failed domestic goddess and I am hiding a dead demon in the pantry. Love, love, love him!!\"^^^^Permission to *blergh*^^^^Then there's the whole \"I miss my dead husband sooooo much\" and I don't even want to go on about how she raves about how much she loves her kids.^^^^Permission to double *blergh*^^^^I guess I should have put the book down when you have a quote from a review saying, \"This will resonate with all the soccer moms out there\" or something like that. =.= I didn't see that one actually, Sam did. I just thought the quote at the front of \"what you'd get if Buffy married and kept her past a secret\" was rather amusing too.^^^^That'll learn me.^^^^Honestly, it was so sickening I couldn't finish it, but I was mildly curious who the bad guy was. So, I skipped to the end (as well as skipping all the sappy bits) and then the middle to figure out who the heck Eddy was and why he was so chummy with the daughter. ^^^^It's a best-seller so I'm quite sure that means there are people out there who loved it to bits. So, safe to say that this book's demographic does not include me (somehow I shouldn't be so surprised). =P"

I was looking for a fun, light read and came across this book. What if Buffy the Vampire Slayer got married, had kids, and never told anyone she used to hunt demons? And what if those demons came and interrupted life in her quiet town? Soccer-mom demon slaying at it's best.

I picked this one up at the used book store for a fun, light read. It was that, but it wasn't great. It's total fluff. The description is exactly right. It's as if Buffy became a soccer mom....and lost some IQ points along the way. You could see the ending coming a MILE away. It read like an episode of Buffy, but not nearly as fun or clever. Not even as good as Bad Eggs...no, really. I probably won't read any more and this one's going right back in my stack to take (back) to the used book store.

Kate used to be demon hunter. Now she is a soccer mom and doesn't want to change her life. But, these demons keep attacking her. What's a mom to do? Lot's of fun, great story. 111807

Carpe Demon is the story of Kate Conner, a retired demon hunter, now a stay-at-home mom, who is called back into duty when a new demon invades her town. I like the author's easy prose and her snarky sense of humour. It's a quick and goofy read. The book is a tribute to motherhood and shows that a mother is up to any challenge whether it's a cranky toddler or an evil demon trying to take her life.

Suburban soccer mom has to return to her old calling as a demon hunter when demons start appearing in her local Wal-Mart and threatening her family. A fine story (with perhaps a few too many parenthetical snarks).

A cute story about a retired demon hunter turned house wife and mother to a fourteen year old and a two year old. She has been retired for about 15 years and changed her name and address. One day a demon possessed man jumps through her kitchen window and attacks her. He said his masters army would find it and they would all die. There are few hunters left. She is pulled out of retirement but is determined to keep it a secret from her family.

I gave up. I was so bored with this. I felt like I knew nothing about the plot and I was more than half way through the book. I can't do that.
