This is exactly what I needed - fluffy fantasy from the Buffy era. Yes!
This one, however, was the weakest in the series for me so far. The whole dynamic between Gillian and Angel was pretty bland of I'm honest, and while there were a few jokes in there that made me laugh or roll my eyes, it wasn't as exciting as other installments of the series. Here's hoping the rest live up to the first few books.

This was a surprisingly fast and fairly enjoyable story. I enjoyed how fast paced it was, although the beginning felt a little slow and long just cause there was a lot of description. I honestly don’t know what I was expecting going into this book, but it definitely wasn’t what I read

The weakest Night World book so far. Only mild interaction with Night World itself.
Ok let's do a rundown of heavy-shit-in-the-Night-World books:
Secret Vampire: Swift and terminal cancer in a teenager, the sudden loss of all she knows due to becoming a made vampire. Previous loss of parent (alive but abandoned them more or less).
Daughters of Darkness: Attempted rape. Animal cruelty on more than one occasion. Dead parents (the Redferns have lost both parents, the Carters have lost their mother). Finding dead relatives. Running away from dangerous, cultlike community. Accidental murder.
Spellbinder: Maniacal manipulation of vulnerable people. Dead parents. Excommunication.
Dark Angel: Alcoholism. Abandonment. Murder of a child. Extremely mentally and emotionally abusive relationship. Angel/Gary (lol Gary) is manipulative as all get out and is basically the PG version of Lasher from Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches novels.
Dang, L. J.!
In terms of continuity, we have finally met a lost witch in Gillian. We see Ash briefly, and we are introduced to Melusine (even though I think she may have been mentioned previously?). More talk of Circle Daybreak. More soulmate principle (Gillian/David).

"I've got a gaurdian angel who sounds like Robin Williams,..."
Yes, I know these books are cheesy...
Yes, I know the books are full of insta-love and tropes... but I love reading them.
This particular book in the series wasn't my favorite, it just didn't seem to flow with the previous three books. But, I still had fun reading it!

This is, so far, my least favorite Night World novel. It was just so boring and ridiculous.

My Booktube
more good vibes from Mrs. Smith so are we surprised, no
I love how the subplot is being written and how interwoven throughout the story it is. And I loved seeing Ash come back and mention "last summer" my heart
also interesting to see Circle Daybreak mentioned more openly which means good things all around
now I just want more

Ačkoliv se tenhle díl konečně lišil od ostatních, zatím mi přišel nejslabší, nic se tam pořádně nedělo a i postavy byly takové nijaké
