I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected. I struggled to watch the Netflix show but I might give it another go. Excited for the rest of the series.

Lots of sciencey talk which I imagine can feel a little overwhelming at parts if you’re not familiar / interested in it (at that depth anyways)

I liked that the book didnt spoon feed the reader too much and unwravelled at a nice speed

First six fi book I ever read! It was Hot Sexy Fire. Some chapters (I think) could’ve been cut out or rearranged, but I enjoyed the book as a whole all things considered.

Thought-provoking speculative fiction, delivered in the form of a slow burn conspiracy thriller, with a really memorable historical backdrop of the Cultural Revolution

Incredibly reflective study of the human condition. Intelligently written, keeping the suspense while making the reader consider the state of humanity and its impact on the world.

At the Red Coast facility, signals are being sent in to space in an attempt to contact alien life.
Several decades later, a nanotech e gineer is asked to infiltrate a secretive group of scientists following a spare of suicides. This leads the engineer to The Three-Body Problem: an online game where the world is governed by the interaction of it's three suns, and players must solve the mystery of the world.
The Three-Body Problem is more than a game; it is a conspiracy spanning light years.

I found this very physics heavy. It was enjoyable and for the most part concepts were well explained. There were a couple of points where it lost me though. The version I had of the book had a few footnotes from the translator explaining some of the terms as well which helped with both the science and the cultural aspects.
The mystery of what the base was doing, how that linked to the present events and the significance of The Three-Body Problem was good, with intrigue maintained throughout the narrative.
The book ends in a very interesting place. I'm definitely looking forward to where the second one goes.
