This was an amazing book. If you want to read a great love story that defies time and objectivity, read this book. It's absolutely amazing, and I read it so fast because it just draws you in.

SpoilerFor this being Niffenegger's first book I was concerned, but in the end I was so impressed! Even with first person (which I despise) and POV switching, it was so well written I couldn't put it down.

The only part that really had me confused with all the jumping around in time is the description of Henry's death. On page 468 we have the death described from an outsiders perspective (sort of) and then later we get the first hand account from Henry. I might have been reading something wrong, but this was a little strange to me.

In the end, the ambiguous death doesn't really matter because the book is so great. There was so much plot that I wasn't expecting, like Gomez and Clare. I never expected them to be able to conceive Alba, it was quite a ride.

Overall, amazing read. Time to go watch the movie!

I listened to this on tape and it was a little hard to follow. I still prefer to think of his time travels as some form of mental illness.

This is one of the rarest experiences I’ve had. For possibly the first time ever I believe the movie for this story is better than the book. Perhaps it’s because I listened to it on audiobook, but I found it difficult to get into and at times difficult to follow. The actual storyline was good, but I found some of the language unnecessarily vulgar and a few times reference was given to certain past events in order to make a similarity or a point, which was always had a negative connotation and in my opinion was often in poor taste.
I’m actually glad I saw the movie to this one first, because if I hadn’t, I most certainly would not have liked this book on its own. Not one I’d recommend.
