This book was much heavier and darker than I planned on it being. It's definitely not a "fun" time traveling book, but looks more at the dark side of what moving back and forth through time means. I had a difficult time in the beginning because my literal brain kept trying to figure out how the time travel aspect would work. However, after awhile I let that go and just got into the romance of it all. I liked having the two different points of view for the main characters and the back and forth of the timelines. Overall, I liked it and would recommend for those wanting an overall theme of grief (though I'm not sure who would want that.)

I love time travel books, and this icon of the genre was long on my TBR. It is a marvelous book with a great structure. A true writing masterpiece. I appreciate it for the ideas, the beautiful writing, and achievement it is. I was left wanting more, though. I felt there were some loose ends that were not tied up, like did the family just never speak about the shooting in the woods, did Henry’s obvious alcoholism go away or what, and did Henry get closure for his mother’s death? I also wanted to know more about the genetic disorder/other time travelers. Maybe there just wasn’t any time. I felt the book lost a bit of steam after Alba was born. Like the central plot for half the book was TTC and after that the book wandered a bit trying to find the story again. Overall, loved it. But it left a lot of questions, too.

I love stories about time travel and this one was exceptionally well done. It is also a sweet love story. I can't wait for the movie to come out!

Great combination of science fiction and romance. If your tired of the typical Nicholas Sparks romance novels, this story has a special twist that would leave you breathless at the end. I had a hard time looking for a next romance novel after this one.
