I didn’t like how the sex was written. It made me uncomfortable. Or the fact that he called her “Little Love”. It felt weird to me. The world is interesting and I didn’t catch the final plot twist.

Lilith is the daughter of some very important family in this world. She is fierce, she knows what she wants and isn't afraid to let that be known. She lives on her own, makes due on her own and tries her very best to defy her parents. When something happens that shakes her world, she is determined to find the truth, even though it might get her in danger.

Lilith is such a fun character, she is a strong FMC and I liked how she is portrayed. She wants to make it on her own without her parents because she does not believe in the things het parents believe in. She provides for her own, but that does not always go to plan. Following her steps and thought process in this is fascinating. She did feel very real to me with real flaws and real emotions and you see the emotions sometimes get the better of her, but she does not let that stop her from reaching her goals.
With certain parts the tears were in my eyes, I have laughed out loud en felt angry on her behalf. The writing therefore was absolutely spot on. I could see everything unfold in my mind, it was descriptive enough to form a picture, but not everything is written down to the detail, so there is absolutely room for your own interpretation.
I also loved the small snippets from Zahariev. Just to get a glimpse from him made this book so much more interesting!

Honestly, I don't have much to complain about, the only thing I can think of right now is that I have to wait a YEAR to be able to dive back into this world and I will absolutely pick up book 2.

I did a combination of reading and listening and I absolutely love love love the way Laura Horowitz and Tristan Warden brought the characters alive. They did an amazing job and I can recommend everyone to at least partly listen to this audiobook performance.

Overall, this was amazing. I have felt a lot of emotions while reading. I did have high expectations because I love pretty much everything Scarlett St. Clair writes and this did not disappoint in the slightest.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this arc. All opinions are my own.

When I said I want yearning, I didn't expect Scarlett to give a buffet full in a single book.

And boy did Zahariev Zareth deliver. Whilst we only get snippets from his prospective, this man was pathetic, in the best ways. His utter devotion to Lillth ... swoon!

I really liked the plot, and this series has 5 star potential to me but this book wasn't quite there and I cannot place why yet. I think we just need to explore a bit more.

This book made me laugh, swoon, gasp and the plot twist. Oh my, were they good, I didn't see them coming.

The ending of the book has me desperate and ready to beg on my knees for the second book.

Cannot wait to pick this book up when it comes out.

Terror at the Gates by Scarlett St. Clair is the fist book in the Blood of Lilith series. Lilith is estranged from her powerful family and is living in Nineveh using her magic to steal for a living. Zahariev is the only man who can help her and he happens to be the ruler of Nineveh.

I had a really hard time with this book. On one hand I really liked Zahariev but we didn’t get enough of him and on the other hand Lilith absolutely drove me nutty.
She is whiney, annoying, and selfish. I did not like her at all so I absolutely cared nothing for what happens to her.

I think I would have enjoyed it more if Zahariev’s POV was more than just tiny little snippets at the end of each chapter. The tension and spice was good. I would have loved to have more about what he was feeling with this tension and slow-burn.

The pacing was also really really slow and didn’t feel like it had a lot of direction with some filler scenes.

Anyways that’s my take! May or may not read the second one when it comes out depending on if I feel up to it.
