“I don’t need you on your back for anything, Martise, unless you want to go star-gazing with me.”

THIS BOOK HAD ME PHYSICALLY REACTING. CONVULSING. IN NEED OF AN EXORCIST (or a hot man idk can’t decide) wow this is such a good book where do I start. I put it off for literally 2 years and with a new itch to read SOMETHING I picked it up and BOY OH BOY AM I GLAD I DID. THIS BOOK TICKLED EVERY LOBE IN MY BRAIN. The characters are so well developed and the storyline is so perfect.
The romance???? HOT. The characters and their development???? HOOOOOT! The plot??? EPIC. Definitely one of my new favs. Adding it to my pile of “I’ll reread this as soon as I forget the majority” bc this shit was fun.

I had to suffer through reading this on my phone, but it was well-worth it. While a typical fantasy romance in many ways, it is so beautifully written that's easily forgivable. The way Draven describes scenes, it was like playing the scene of a movie directly to my imagination - something not oft accomplished. I only wish I had a physical copy to display in my collection of favored books.

This was one of the best written and most compelling fantasy romances I've ever read. I enjoyed the emotional yet very effective prose. I loved the main characters - they felt like real people, with flaws and strengths, ultimately human and ultimately worthy of their HEA. The characterisation had depth and nuance. Silhara of Neith remains one of the best, most interesting anti-heros I've ever had the pleasure to read. I very much enjoyed the character development and the world building. The pacing and overall storyline were also enjoyable. I particularly liked the atmospheric, slightly dark or perhaps gothic feel of the world. A great read.

This wasn't as amazing as Radiance but I was really rooting for Matrise and Silahara by the end, so I guess it was a success. I think I just was a little disbelieving of their romance at the beginning because of how awfully he treated her. Still, it was an enjoyable read.

My favourite Grace Draven book.
