I could not finish it. Ever has irritated me the last few books. I have too many books on my to read list to waste my time with this.

Sigh! This is the end. At first I was happy and maybe relieved that this was the last book. I was a bit done with this story, even though I loved it very much. But now that it has ended, I still wish there was more.

In the last book of the immortal series Ever and Damen are faced with their last task. They meet a crazy old woman who speaks in riddles and declares that Ever's destiny is to release all immortals from their immortality. Her journey starts in a long ago time. Before she was Ever or all those other girls. A time where she was Adelina, where her reincarnating began. After reliving the beginning she accepts her journey to free the immortals of physical immortality and only give their soul immortality. But Damen is reluctant to follow her, so when he starts his work on the antidote - they know, because Roman told them after they freed him, Drina, Haven and all the other lost souls from the shadowland - Ever travels to the tree of life. Finding the fruits and giving the choice to the immortals turned by Roman to give up their immortality, there is only Damen left to convince. But what will he choose?

I loved this ending. It was much better than the previous books, especially because Ever finally made some wise decisions. She was independent, she fought for what she thought was the best and she finally saw her true destiny. And she got her happy ending nonetheless. All's well that ends well, right. Though I would not have been surprised if it would've ended a bit different. Damen seemed very reluctant in the end and I honestly never believed he would make the right decision, but he did!

Jude gets his happy ending with Honor, I suppose. Sabine and Munoz are getting married, Miles has Holt and a future as broadway star. Roman and Drina found each other, in soul form and Haven finally found her true self, also in soul form. And last but not least, Ever and Damen found each other, and they will again and again and again. Because they may no longer have physical immortality, their souls are immortal from now on and they are destined to find each other in every next lifetime.

Oh. Jeez. This book was....dismal, was the word I used when I was talking to Steph about reading. I read 1-5 together and very effect of being able to roll with it. That reading six made me sure I never handled Breaking Dawn alone either.

I'm amazed I ever made it to the end of this book.

: )

But at some parts it got a bit deep and 'spiritual'....

Honestly I found everything that took place in Summerland to be a bit dull, which was most of the book. But as many other reviewers have said, Ever is far less annoying and has finally (after six books) learned how to make a good decision.

There was a lot going on with the whole karma and reincarnation and physical vs spiritual life that I felt like was supposed to be some grand profound commentary on the human condition but just fell a little flat for me. It really took me out of the story as I felt so much of this book was focused on the message the author was trying to convey and I think it was done to the detriment of the actual story. I dunno, I found it worked in all the previous books but felt a little shoved aggressively down my throat in this one. After sitting with it for a bit I think I managed to fit together the broad strokes of what the author intended and how it worked into the series as a whole so that made more sense. I just feel like it should be the other way around, the story should be obvious and the message should be the underlying thing that a reader can extrapolate through thought and reflection.

Glad I finished the series, if just to know how it ended. I do like how it ended, I did find it a fairly satisfying conclusion in it's plot if not in the execution.

Let's be honest, we all are freaking annoyed with the series (whoever that reads it) but at the same time we are so damn curious.
So this is the last book and while in the previous book the author has killed off Haven and Roman (the antagonists) one might wonder what the hell is going to happen in the last book? Surely not another love interest.

The first book- This is not bad at all. Slow but not bad.

The second book- i don't like where the book is going...

The third book- AWHELLNO. JUST NO. STOP IT. STOP BREATHING. DIE YOU PIECE OF ANNOYING, UNGRATEFUL LITTLE WRENCH.

The fourth book- no! I will not forgive you!

The fifth book- damnit. okay, i understand now. i understand why Damen is being a pansy, why Roman is a huge asshole, why Drina and Haven are just so unbelievably spiteful. And i accept it. I forgive you all.

The sixth and final book- ......The sixth and final book makes the pain of the first five books worth it. Why? Because of the blatant character development from each character, main or minor.
*cues in wonderful, moving music by Murray Gold*
There were quite a number of beautiful lines thrown in and the whole 'there's a spiritual journey that awaits us' is heavily themed.

*suffering from postEverBloommortem depression*
