Funny Christmas gift, a cute story about love for children, and bunnies.
Okay, this is entirely too cute.
Now, I realize that this is a picture book and not only are picture books expensive but for heaven's sake, they only last so long. So if you are unsure of the book and haven't had a chance to read it yet, I would take the route that I did and check it out from the library.
But seriously, this book is so cute and is specifically written for young kids. This is a story about a bunny fighting for what he believes in and his friends standing up to injustice.
I love the way that this was written, especially since it's for younger kids. It makes the message simple to understand and yet tackles what people think is a difficult topic. The art style? Ugh, I literally can't. It's so cute and colorful that I would definitely buy art prints from whoever illustrated this book. Not kidding.
If you are hesitant about this book, don't be. It's completely worth it. And if you're still worried about spending that much on a children's book, check it out from the library to see if it's worth your time. Happy Reading everyone!!

Oh my gosh, this is wonderful! Never mind that this gay bunny is owned by our current Vice President (Pence!) but he wants to get married to boot. Lots of wonderful issues are treated clearly, fairly, and with wonderful fun... and every cent earned goes to a charity that helps with better treatment for the LGBTQ community.
MY OPINION: *****
Summer Reading Challenge #1: A picture book
I'm currently doing a summer reading challenge where I'm reading 52 books over the summer (and probably the rest of the year) and the first requirement (and easiest) was a picture book.
Aww, this book was SO cute! I loved the message behind this tale. The book is about former Vice President Mike Pence's bunny, Marlon Bundo. Mike Pence is notoriously "anti-gay" and it was honestly amazing to see the revenge taken in this book in a seemingly-innocent way.
To sum it all up:
A boy bunny falls in love with a boy bunny.
This was actually considered a banned book when I searched it up (another requirement is a banned book), but I decided to read it for my picture book. The book is strongly focused on the LGBTQ+ community, which is why it was banned. Apparently, it's not okay for children to learn about the LGBTQ+ community which is honestly stupid and disrespectful. It's not like it's a bad thing. They see their parents in love (most of the time) so why shouldn't they see love in its entirety?
It's SOOO cute. The bunnies are cute and the fact that they fall in love is so cute. It's also entirely funny to watch them fight against the Stink Bug for their rights. I loved how we learned that even though someone is holding the power at the moment, with democracy, we have the right to vote them out again.
A large theme behind this book is standing up for your rights and voting for what YOU believe is right. I enjoyed reading about how these bunnies stood up to the Stink Bug and fought to be married because they loved each other so much.
This book focuses on love and standing up to people and making a change, all of which are great for children when trying to bring up one of these topics. I enjoyed reading this through and through and would recommend it to honestly anyone who has about five minutes.
Main Character: Marlon Bundo
Sidekick(s): Wesley, other animals, etc
Villain(s): Stink Bug, etc
Realistic Fiction Elements: This book was all real to life.

If you didn't see John Oliver last night, Marlon Bundo is Mike Pence's pet rabbit. Pence released a children's book about Bundo and is going to promote it at Focus on the Family, an organization that promotes gay conversion. So Oliver also released a children's book about Bundo getting married to his boyfriend Wesley. I recommend picking it up - I got it on audible for less than two dollars, and it's available on Amazon - it's a delightful story with a good message for people of all ages and if it outsells Pence's book, it will really piss him off. All the proceeds go the Trevor Project, a group that works to prevent LGBTQ suicides.
That final page. I want to frame it and put it on my wall. "Stink bugs are temporary. Love is forever."
