This book has elements that I like in a cozy mystery: an eye-catching cover, recipes, books, tea, and a cat. There’s also a bit of magic.
Phoebe Winchester inherits a Victorian mansion, a bookshop/tea store and a ginger cat named Bob, from her grandmother, Eudora, in the village of Raven Creek. Sounds idyllic until a body is found on the doorstep of the bookshop. Phoebe finds some unique tea blends in the tea store and begins to think that Eudora could have been a witch. Phoebe discovers that she has probability witch powers herself.
This is a great start to a new series, and I look forward to the next book!

It wasn’t a bad book. But I had very different expectations going into it based on the blurb. The description makes it seem like the story is going to be focused on the mystery but honestly that feels like a sub plot.
The story instead focuses on small town life and the fmc interacting with her aunt’s old community and running an adorable cafe/bookshop (which is a thing of dreams, I want to go there). And it does that very well. But it’s not what I picked up the book for.

I stuck with this until 40% of the way through, but even that was a struggle tbh.
Lots of dialogue explaining the very mundane, not much time spent on the actual interesting stuff or the plot.

After inheriting her favorite aunt's home and tea shop, Phoebe Winchester moves there to start over after her divorce. After a body is found by the tea shop, apparently trying to break in, Phoebe searches for what is so valuable and why the abrasive realtor keeps harassing her. Debut of new cozy series with a strong engaging heroine. Secondary characters are interesting and the mystery satisfying. Enjoyed this one so much that I am immediately starting the next in the series. Thanks to netgalley and Crooked Lane publishers for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
