Colleen Hoover really knows how to keep the reader on the edge of their freaking seat. I read this so fast and if life wasn't a thing, I would've read it in one sitting. It was fast passed and kept me wanting to know what happened next and what the results of things were. I was very shocked by the ending and didn't guess a thing.
For me, there was too much graphic sex writing. I don't need that, and much rather things be left to the imagination. You can imply so much in the regard and I don't think it's needed for the book. I scimmed so many pages because I didn't want to read the intimate details of a sexual relationship.
The main character was kinda annoying and I did find her frustrating. Well, all the characters were kind of annoying. I didn't get behind the male lead, didn't find him attractive or appealing, as is usually expected. Even the kid was a pain in the ass, so yeah, no character love here. But this is definitely a plot driven book and did keep me on the edge of my seat.

I had a hard time getting into the story on this one initially, but once Lowen gets to the house and starts digging through Verity’s office - and by extension, her past - things pick up pretty fast.

The most interesting parts of the novel are Verity’s writings. I found Lowen to be a bland and boring protagonist, especially compared to Verity. Thankfully, the suspense and eeriness of the Crawford home and some genuinely scary moments are enough to carry through Lowen’s “I’m not like other people because I’m an introvert and that’s my defining characteristic” meandering stream of consciousness.

This was a 3.5 read for me until the third act. The climactic reveals and jaw-dropper of an ending catapulted it to a 4-star rating. It’s a quick, scary read well-suited for romance readers who want to dip a toe into thrillers without committing to bloodshed and gore.

I don't remember the last time I read a book in two days.

Verity is a romance/thriller and it is messed up. I often try to compare thrillers to Gone Girl and The Wife Between Us, etc, but Verity has it's own twists. Trigger warnings include abuse, abortion, death of children. The romance is spicy and the thrills are unnerving and slight but build over time. Lowen, who is telling the story, is unreliable in an, "I don't want to believe it" kind of way rather than, "I'm an alcoholic/addict but I'm telling the truth, I swear!" kind of way, which is nice.

Somethings don't add up for me, but overall, wow that was some good writing that held my attention.

The book starts off with the death of a man, that didn't really do much for the plot. I think it was added for shock factor and to show the reader what kind of story it is. After the gruesome death of this man, which is handled so poorly in my opinion, Jeremy Crawford the perfect man comes in. Shortly after, the main character is hired to write the last part of Veritys story and spends time with Jeremy and his son Crew. Verity is disabled at the moment and the MC finds out horrid details about Verity in a document not meant for other eyes. The story itself was written well, but the author's handling of the story came to a halt at the ending. Not a good ending at all. It ruined it for me. These characters are despicable. All of them.

Wow I actually really enjoyed that. It was very intriguing and Colleen’s writing in this book is so good. And it’s so misleading you can’t tell if the narrator is reliable or if Verity is reliable. Wow. I am pretty shocked but some of the stuff was really twisted and wicked.
even if it was made up and she didn’t actually try abort her kids or kill them etc, it was still fkd to think about
I enjoyed how fast paced it was. Took me a bit over 2hrs to read
