There was so much going on in this one but it all came to a good conclusion in the end. Some many of the characters changed throughout this one that some of it was a bit hard to follow who was on what side and when. But overall i enjoyed it.

I actually think my love for Faye is just too strong. Why I say that, you ask? Well cause of all the (excuse my language) shitty things she has done, including telling the circle about Cassie and Adam, I still love her! She is such a strong character! This, to me, was the best book out of the 'trilogy'. Nick and Cassie's relationship was just so............ REFRESHING!!! I cant help but get a little enthusiastic and excited but its true! It was better then her relationship with Adam, I can tell you that. But lets face it, we all knew that she would end up with Adam, which made me sad for Nick. Poor Nick.. :( In the end, I will admit I shed a tear when I thought how Smith wouldn't be writing for this series again.. sigh.. just like Vampire Diaries.. But all in all, this was an amazing book and a perfect ending for this trilogy (that was written by L.J. Smith).

I have not flown through a series like this in so long. I know there are three more books but I'm not sure if I want to continue just yet. This book ended in a way that I could just not continue and be happy with it. I don't like how the author's publishing company treated her.

I also like Nick more then Adam

At last, I'm done with the series. Despite my annoyances, I did find myself staying up far too late to finish up this trilogy. Not a very realistic one, but a fluff one that made me happy. I needed a bit of fluff, even if it was a bit macabre and unrealistic.

I've decided to take a break from the YA fiction for a while and get back to reading books geared toward my age (whatever that means). Hopefully, it means you'll hear less whining from me about the shortcomings of published writers. Yeah, I know, I'm probably just jealous. Seriously though, doesn't it get your goat when you read stories or books that you could have done a better job writing? Not in an arrogant way, but just in a, wow, I really could have written this better, way.

Anyhow...

My honest rating of this book is 3.5 out of 5. Of the three books in the original trilogy, this was the least coherent for me in some places, particularly the beginning and the end. In the beginning, the resolution to the issues raised in "The Captive" are rather quickly resolved. I actually identified with Faye regarding how things were resolved because Cassie and Faye built up the idea that if this information was shared that it might destroy the dynamics of the circle and that is not exactly how things play out.

The beginning of this book, is actually where I started to be confused about Diana as a character. Throughout the first two books, it is clear that a component of Diana's personality is to see the best in those around her. However, Diana's actions at both the beginning and the end of the book seem to be outside her own self-interest. In fact her behaviour at the end of the book with regards to the trust box she gives Cassie at the end just seems somewhat cruel to a person she has known and loved her whole life.

I did enjoy Faye's storyline more in this book, but I do not think that it was enough to redeem her as a character overall. I get that she is a teenager in these books, but she seems to not care about the circle at all, but it's Cassie who is continually blamed for not trusting/relying on the group.

Overall, a pretty good ending to Smith's original storyline.
