To this is over the top is a huge understatement. It goes way beyond just being over the top. Totally unbelievable action but that is what Matthew Reilly is all about. It's an enjoyable read, mostly. It does get a bit confusing in places and lacks clarity to be totally engaging, though it's still worth reading for it's mindless action.
What do you expect, when the Air Force is out to kill the president and his marine guards are all that stand between him and this happening. Plus a side trip to space is nothing compared to saving the whole country.

This book is an entertaining adventure with absolutely no breaks! It reads like a Mission Impossible movie on steroids with non-stop action, death defying stunts and amazing heroics.
While this was definitely entertaining, I see the flaws as well. The descriptions of each and every plane/car/military vehicle did take me out of the story a lot of the times. As I am not that well-versed in knowing what each part of a military vehicle is named, I found the long descriptions of them boring and skimming paragraphs. Also the extent to which Schofield is able to beat all odds while everyone else around him drops dead with one gunshot takes a little too much suspension of disbelief that I am incapable of anymore. Along with that the plot has too obvious good and bad guys with no room for gray while also leaving no room for any character development with the never-ending action sequences. I had read the first book of this series years ago when I was a child and had enjoyed it immensely. So I wanted to give the rest of a series a chance. But I seem to have grown out of it now.
Overall, this book was basically a lot of action with little substance but terribly enjoyable like a Hollywood action movie.

I'd say this ties for 1st for his better books.
Nuclear bombs have been planted in airports around the country. Terrorists have planted a chip next to the President's heart; if he dies, the bombs will explode. The ultimate game of capture the flag takes place inside this highly classified army base.
Sounds goofy, but still a fun read.

This one wasn't quite as good as Ice Station, but it was still a very entertaining read.
As expected, there are some great action scenes, great characters, and a solid story to get behind.
I thought that this book lagged a bit in the chase scene, but everything else was more than up to par.
I can't wait to read the next one!

Okay if reality and logic and all that boring stuff is what you want, this book isn't for you. But if you want one helluva action packed story with impossible stunts and wild chases, grab this book. You won't be disappointed.
