What happened to the story after about halfway through? It’s like nothing really happened. And what was that epilogue?? Loved seeing Sergei but if they were going to have an epilogue that leads into another story then at least give us two to actually show what’s up with the couple of the current story as well.

I found this to be a compelling premise but poorly executed.
It dragged and the MMC is a dunce as he kept wondering why the FMC was married to a horrible man.
The MMC connection to Salvatore (the NYC don) was not well written, it was just haphazardly thrown in.

This was quite good. I liked that Az got to learn how to love again. I also like when we get a fmc that is more than initially meets the eye. Az made assumptions about her when in reality she was not at all how he thought she was like. I also like how Ravenna was written because I am tired of all these characters being really abused but not affected. Ravenna was a strong character that was beaten down again and again and that affected her behaviour because she is a normal human. It is what is realistic in these types of relationships. Just because you’re affected doesn't mean that you’re not strong.

2 weeks into this series and I can't stop.
warning there's a cheating trope in this book BUT I don't consider it because Rocco was an asshole!!
Alessandro after 8 years is going to be able to avenge his wife's death. But there's a problem Ravenna is not what he thinks she is. This makes him unable to do his plans.
Ravenna's marriage is not what people think, making it easier for her to fall in love with Alessandro.
-bodyguard
-forbidden love
-revenge
-enemies to lovers
-age gap
-possessive/jealous hero

I have liked or loved each book of the stories within Altaj’s “Perfectly Imperfect” series so far & no difference here with Alessandro (Az) and Ravenna’s (Ravi) story!!
This one was more of a slow burn than some of the others in the series but I really loved the dynamic between Az and Ravi. The turmoil that Az goes through when your heart and your head are at war with each other was portrayed very well!
While I found myself yelling at Alessandro for his constant back & forth, my heart also went out to him. He has spent the past eight years with one singular focus - revenge for his late wife. But suddenly when he’s closer than ever to achieving that, he’s thrown through a loop by Ravi. She completely takes him by surprise, slowly turning his mind & heart down a new path, and he doesn’t know how to deal with that.
As for Ravi - I loved her! She was strong and kind, and I love her little humor that would come out around Az when she felt safe. She saw herself as weak because of how her asshole of a husband treated (abused) her. But like Az said, she was forced to fight without weapons and still was stronger than her opponent.
Each book in this series can be read as a standalone but if you like mafia series that are more character driven than mafia driven, and have couples with insta-connections, I HIGHLY recommend this series!!!
✨please check TW at the beginning of the book✨
