If you love cinnamon roll hockey boys and low-drama romance, Perfect Deke needs to be on your TBR 🏒💞
Jack is the sweetest MMC ever—like, heart-meltingly sweet. His bond with his teammates?? Literal bro goals. The way they step in to help when he and Kendra hit a rough patch had me grinning like an idiot 😭🙌
Kendra was great too—strong, relatable, and didn’t take nonsense. Though, okay… the argument? A little over the top imo 😅 Like girl, it was a four-year-old group chat message. But I’ll give it to her because it led to the only real conflict, and we were blessedly spared any extra drama 🙏
The fake dating trope could’ve been played out a little longer (it was giving “blink and now we’re in love”), but their chemistry? Off the charts 🫶 So I didn’t mind too much.
All in all:
💌 Soft boy Jack supremacy
🧃 Zero toxic energy
🖤 Fake dating, real feelings
👀 One mild drama, no nonsense
RUN, don’t walk. Jack deserves all your love.

Just ok, I’m not sure how I feel about the MMC given some things he states abut the MFC when speaking to Tyler. That really lost his appeal.
This felt more like obsessed than love given their background which was explained they didn’t actually know each other. Also didn’t get the point of the fake dating- it was for a split second.

This book follows Jack, a newly drafted NHL hockey player fresh off a year in the AHL, and Kendra, a fierce and talented professional soccer player. Jack’s charming British wit and Kendra’s all-American fire make for some hilarious banter—especially when it comes to the age-old debate: is it soccer or football?
Their history goes back to college, where Kendra dated Tyler, Jack’s then-teammate. While Jack quietly harbored feelings for her, Kendra was too wrapped up in Tyler to notice. Spoiler: Tyler was not the guy for her. After a breakup and an unfortunate situation with her apartment being condemned, Jack offers Kendra a place to stay… and we all know where that leads.
This book is a total page-turner. It’s lighthearted, sweet, and full of tension in all the best ways. If you’re a fan of sports romance with a side of slow-burn chemistry and flirty rivalry, this one is a must-read!
