It wasn't bad, just boring it's expected for insta-love

Overall, I personally was able to relate to the book in various aspects, which helped me stay invested in the book. They do say write what you know, and Eddings did just that with the dental school aspect. I enjoyed commiserating in the reality of what going to graduate school for a medical field is like, having done so myself - and it’s not pretty.
There were some plot points that bothered me, such as Dan’s financial situation. It’s never discussed how he’s able to afford dental school when he left a really good job to be there. How is he supporting himself when he’s not working? Are we to assume that his mother is paying for his schooling and necessities?
Harper’s poorness is mentioned multiple times, but we never get a clear explanation for Dan’s wealthiness, especially when he decides to take a job 10 levels below where he previously was. Money is a huge factor for a city like NYC where the cost of living is insane. This did remove me from the book a little because the reader is just expected to gloss over it.
Having read Eddings’ entire backlist at this point, I think this is by fair my favorite book of hers that I’ve read. I am curious to see what her future new releases will bring to the table.

This was so fun and super cute! Dan and Harper were just adorable together. Also thought Harper's anxiety was really well depicted and handled with sensitivity! Overall a very sweet romance.

This was cute not my favourite book I’ve ever read but definitely an easy read. At times the characters bugged me but overall I liked it.

I'll take a slow-burn romance any day over this insta-love nonsense. Throughout the book, I just couldn't feel the chemistry between the characters, which made it hard for me to get invested in their relationship. And honestly, the whole trope of two people locking eyes and falling in love instantly feels incredibly outdated and unrealistic. That scene where the girl falls into the guy's arms and they have an instant connection? It felt like the tension was forced, especially with that weird subplot of trying to escape the friend zone through physical intimacy. It just didn't sit right with me.
And can we talk about the clichés? I'm so tired of romance books relying on the same tired plot structures and cheesy lines. Heat pooling, eyes flashing, skin thrumming... come on, let's get a little more creative here. It's time for authors to step up their game and give us something fresh and original.

This was my first book by this author and I know it won’t be my last. I laughed and smiled at the plot. The writing style was so fun and effortless as Harper, a future oral surgeon just about to graduate and full of anxiety, meets up with Dan, a first year dental student, whose true passion is really in finance. I adored how this friends first trope played out, and I thought the anxiety rep was really well written too.
