Picked up this one on a SBTB review or sale notice (I forgot which one), because it sounded awesome - sort of a modern Cinderella story, with a plausible setup for a small fictional kingdom. The book delivered in spades, and I really, really enjoyed it. The main characters were interesting and true to themselves, even as they changed throughout the novel, and the exploration of backstory for them both showed what had made them the people they were today. I particularly liked the supporting character of the Queen, especially the bits about duty and holding up the family reputation, as well as the hints of politics thrown in here and there for how the kingdom was run.

I wasn't super excited with how the end of the story went, as it was a bit out of character for our prince IMO, but it did involve him recognizing his responsibilities even as he tossed them out the window, so that's a mixed bag. A few other threads were left unfinished (the snowflake necklace and that awful woman who kept it...argh!) that I wish had been wrapped up as well.

Lots of sex scenes, explicit without being ridiculous or over the top, and one incredibly interesting and well written scene in the bathroom. Definitely a good read from that aspect. ;)

I'll be picking up the next book in the series when it releases - I enjoyed this book and it was perfect for reading on the plane as some less-serious entertainment.

I was hoping for a Princess Mia and a "Prince and Me" with a twist, but not really.
Too much drama, the romance is bleak and the sexy times not really steamy. Maybe there's room for a re-read at some point (story wise, not sex wise), but it's just another NA book with nothing too remarkable.

4.5 stars!

I really struggled with this book in the beginning (the fact that I started this in September and am only now finishing it in December can attest to that) but I'm so happy that I stuck with it and kept reading because this turned out to be such a great book and an even better love story!

Nicholas irritated me in the beginning because he sounded like the typical man-whore hero who thinks he deserves everything but as I kept reading he really surprised me. I loved Olivia from the very beginning and the fact that she's from NYC was just extra icing on the cake. She's so strong and such a badass but at the same time she has a heart of gold and she's incredibly sweet. I loved her relationship with her sister and her complex relationship with her father. And the same could be said about Nicholas; I really enjoyed getting to know his brother and his close friends.

I knew that they would end up together but this book still managed to make me shed a few tears and feel the angst during the second half. Emma Chase's writing is superb and she makes you feel for these characters even if you don't want to.

Overall I can't wait to read the rest of this series and I'm happy (and relieved) to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Cheesy and cliched. But it's summer, so I'm going to grab the second one. This book isn't BAD, it's the quintessential beach read.

This book had EVERYTHING I wanted from a romance book! I loved the characters and the internal dialogue was cute, funny, and relatable! I couldn’t put this book down and was CRYING at certain parts. If a book pulls me so far in, that I care enough about the characters that I’m crying, clearly it’s a winner!!

While I would have preferred Olivia to be a bit stronger when it came to the polo match incident (or just stayed angry for at least a second more) if that’s the only super slight thing I would have changed, its still a win! And really, the internal dialogue made me get why she didn’t....which is why I call it a personal preference. 😉

DON’T JUDGE ME OKAY IT WAS ENTERTAINING AND I NEEDED SOMETHING SILLY.

10/10 might read the rest of the series

Nice royal/pauper romance! Did not like how things resolved at the end (don’t want to spoil it).
