To be honest, I am disappointed.
The beginning was absolutely perfect. The descriptions, the Craft, Whimsey, Isobel and her portraits making - just beautiful.
When they wandered into Gadfly's territory, that was when the plot started lacking.
After the ball and the destruction of the Green Well, everything was rushed. The Alder King just let them escape? And why would he even be affected by Isobel's portrait? Why wouldn't he kill them on the spot? He was painted as this all-powerful being but in the end all he did was wake up, get off his throne, track through his forest and get killed by a human girl. Like??
Also what was the point of the Wild Hunt and Hemlock??
But most importantly, WHY did Godfly want Isobel to be queen? A mare 17 year old mortal. Shouldn't HE want to be king? What did he get from it all?
There are just so many things that don't make any sense.
I'm sorry but I feel like the author just read Acotar and the Witcher and kinda combined them together.
When I read Sorcery of Thorns, I felt that was a good example of a "great idea but a poor execution". In Enchantment of Ravens, there was no "great idea" to begin with. The only thing I loved was the magic mechanics - Craft vs Fae magic. That was clever. Other than that? I'm sorry...
As for characters... They were written pretty well, all the relationships were also great EXCEPT Isobel and Rook. Again, much like in Sorcery of Thorns, the main characters' relationship was rushed and they fell too fast and for no reason whatsoever.
It wasn't bad, but it could have been so much better.
I'm sorry to give it 2.5/5 ⭐

Despite some inconsistencies, I enjoyed the scenic adventure, and this was the perfect autumn read. The descriptions of nature in the fairylands are very well done. For me, the writing peaked when the author is describing how it feels to become a rabbit and to act as a rabbit. I was truly enthralled.
