Even better than Mask of Mirrors and that was in my top three favorites from last year. I loved it.
Strong female characters, interesting magic system, excellent story. In this book we get to know Vargo and his friend and I love him. He is such a good, conflicted character. I highly recommend this series and I can’t wait for the next book.

Lots going on here in Book 2. I started this immediately after finishing The Mask of Mirrors because I just wanted to stay in this world a bit longer, but I felt that it dragged a bit before ultimately dumping SO MUCH information on the reader in the last 1/4. I enjoyed how much more character building and depth we got in this book (love you, Vargo) and i'm ultimately curious how things will wrap up in the third book, but I'm nervous about

Ren and Gray and whether Ren will fall into the age old trap of losing all agency once she falls in love.
