Not as good of a follow-up volume, partly because Marvel axed the series after 8 issues, leading to 3 cruise-centric issues (with nerdy cameos from Paul and Storm, The Doubleclicks, and John Roderick) and two reprinted New Avengers issues. Still, there were corgis, a murder mystery, and a few other things that I enjoyed.

Kind of a hot mess but in a really fun way? It's a shame it was cancelled before its time.

It's really unfortunate that Marvel decided to end this series. Cain's writing was amazing throughout the whole run.

I loved this. It was totally batshit. Honestly. I'm so pissed there's not going to be more, even though the fact that it was ending made the mercorgis possible.

Vol. 1 ★★★★☆
Vol. 2 ★★☆☆☆
Sad to say, I did not enjoy this short 3-issue volume of Mockingbird. It's so unfortunate to see a title that started so promisingly fall so far, though to be fair, Marvel's early cancellation of the series is probably largely to blame. The art is fantastic, and the humor lands, but the plot... meh. Mockingbird didn't even get to kick any ass!
This volume is basically a whodunnit aboard a tropical cruise in the Bermuda Triangle, and seems to rest entirely on inside jokes and Bobbi Morse's past relationships. Cain clearly needed to wrap up quickly, and so chose to throw anything and everything at the script she wanted instead of creating a plausible story arc. She admits as much in her thank-you note at the end of issue #8: "We knew [#8] was going to be our last[...] I figured, what the heck, right? I just put it all in. Mercorgis. Ghost pirates. Alpine threesomes." Granted, #8 was fun and ridiculous, but the whole arc of the volume was pretty nonsensical and a little boring overall. I wish I could say I enjoyed it.

Ugh, I'm glad the rest of this comic got collected in a trade (tho I don't really care about the New Avengers issues added to fill out this volume) but so sad it's over! WHY CAN'T WE HAVE NICE THINGS MARVEL >:(

A 4.25 I rounded down to a 4. I still really enjoyed this, especially the setting and the concept, I just wish it was a little bit longer and that we could have stayed in the mystery a bit longer. Bobbi is delightful as always and she has easily become one of my favorites.

I love Bobbie. It's shame this series was cancelled as it was smart, hilarious, perfectly drawn, and just a joy overall.
