Dark and gritty, rich and good. Highly recommend, but be warned that the stories are not about the sunny side of life.

I can't believe I'd never read this before. On the other hand, the Will Patton–read audiobook hasn't been around all that long, and I can't recommend that version more highly. I fell in love with the prose and with Johnson's voice at full undergraduate strength, and I feel no shame admitting it.

Really intense short stories. The tone reminded me of Bukowski (or rather it reminds me of how I think of Bukowski after reading him about 30 years ago) but less annoying.

Dark, compelling stories about people who live life in overdrive. No stopping and thinking, just GO. I loved all these stories and am now going to read more by this author.
