3.5 it's full of metaphors and symbolism, but also has so much criticism about patriarchy, social norms, and a feminist slant. it's just that some stories are so hard to understand, or sooo short like whattt i need more explanation, because it suddenly just ends. there are some stories where i had to guess what they even meant. as an indonesian who grew up hearing myths and horror stories, this one feels really close to home, and the way society and social norms work made me whisper 'oh yeah this is so true'

Fun little collection with killer one liners, interesting social commentary and some really gut wrenching gross horror (though i wouldn’t fully label this collection horrifying). Definitely a book that requires a little deep thought but some stories are fun in their own right. A great debut overall, but definitely some room for improvement. Very Agatha Carer, but i would like to see Paramaditha go harsher and more gruesome with some stories, as well as perhaps longer tales with tightened up development and structure.

Show stopping, stunning, brilliant, remarkable. New fave indo author!! Firstly, the writing style is gorgeous and right up my alley. Intan uses a lot of metaphors, similes and hyperbole’s that are just bars upon bars. The descriptive language she uses also creates a very gothic atmosphere and in most cases makes me scrunch up my face in disgust. Esp with her descriptions of blood oh my god. There were other times though where her writing was just absolutely confusing like in jeritan dalam botol. Though all the short stories were so creative, horrific and well-thought out. The themes of feminism, rebellion against the patriarchy, and beauty standards were done so well. My faves were perempuan buta tanpa jari, sejak porselen berpipi merah itu pecah and darah. Gorgeous, I wanna read more of her works.

personally, I thought it was a little boring

Dark and bloody collection of short stories, with enough magic and folklore infused to keep things interesting.
