Honestly, this was just an alright reading experience. For being a relatively short, book it felt long winded in many places. I struggled to really understand the shadow terminology? I’m still not entirely sure what everything means lol I also really enjoyed the chapters titled “the past” more than I enjoyed the present day ones. I wanted the entire book to be about the past events lol Overall, it wasn’t terrible and I did enjoy parts of it… I just didn’t love it the way I hoped!

But the way the last chapter ended has intrigued me enough that I will probably pick up the next book. Maybe.

Same vibes as ninth house but with more action and involving shadows instead of ghosts, hell, and secret societies. Female male character was actually strong and super sneaky and I just loved her and the whole dynamic of the story. Her sister annoyed me a little bit but it was true sister behavior and not over stressed as friendly of for like some books, just how real sisters are. I cant wait to read the second book

This started so slow, but after a little bit omg did it pick up! And it always left you guessing everything took me by complete surprise, and the ending left me with my heart in my throat, I need more I need to know what happens next!

•Plot: 9/10 Slow start but then the plot picks up.

•Spice: .5/10 I wouldnt really call it spice, you get lead up to it and then have to fill in the blanks.

•Overall: 9.5/10 I was promised spice and got none but honestly the story held my attention anyways and really kept it, I just wanted to keep reading!
