I loved the detail amd factoids in this book, but because I was digesting so much new information- it took me longer to read.
3.5 stars
While Sara’s mission and journey are admirable and inspiring, I was taken aback by her anger and disregard for others at times. She came across a little with a “holier than thou” attitude. Trespassing and camping on private property? Her judgment of others and lack of common sense in some situations (spending the night alone with a complete male stranger???).
I am fascinated by the monarchs journey and enjoyed that aspect of the book ; and am grateful for all Sara does to help the conservation of monarchs.

A lone woman. A bicycle. A trek of over 10,000 miles. Starting in Mexico. Winding through the US. Going into, out of, back into Canada. Back into and through the US by a different route. Then back to the wintering grounds of the monarch butterfly in Mexico. I loved this story.
In 2017, the author took this challenge. She did it to highlight the peril of the monarch migration, and to enlist help from every day people in making their migration and continued existence possible.
The story was one of adventure, nature, and connection, with only very few negative experiences. My heart was warmed that people were kind to her. I enjoyed her journey vicariously. I enjoyed all I learned about nature and monarchs. I was saddened and disturbed by her anger, and sometimes even rage.
