Have you ever been fooled by great reviews on a restaurant in Yelp only to find that the meal sucked? Well, I'm here to tell you that it happens in book reviews too. In this particular instance my fellow reviewers who rated this a single star are spot on while those 4 and 5 star reviewers are not. This is easily the most preposterous, ludicrous, unbelievable, and silly "thrillers" I've read this year. The single redeeming factor for this book is it is one that can easily be read in a single sitting, only once you've finished you realize that you've wasted precious time you'll never get back. If only it had been but a brief 29 seconds.

Thank you to Goodreads for sending me this ARC. I read it in just over 24 hours. I couldn't seem to put it down. This book was a 4.5 for me.
It's a fast paced book with plenty of twists and turns in each chapter. I enjoyed that the chapters were on the shorter side which made the reading go quickly.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the plot is not something that could ever really happen. This reason left me thinking "this is like a lifetime movie!" as opposed to something I could relate to. THis, personally, is a reason why I wouldn't give it a 5 stars.

Sarah is a temp professor at a university and has two children with her husband who is off somewhere funding himself. At first glance it seems she is a bit docile in nature but once you get a look into Sarah's persona you know she is the kick ass type. A very well respected professor Alan Hawthorne holds Sarah's career in his hands which is why she ignores his advances and practices the rules with her colleague Marie. Unfortunately, professor Hawthorne can't take a hint and trouble ensues for them both.
I'd highly recommend you pick this book up. It was worth drama filled and very action packed.

I've never encountered the threat of sexual abuse in the way that the main character Sarah encounters it but I have to say I've never read a book that made me feel so violated and threatened, on Sarah's behalf. I do avoid this type of subject matter usually, because it makes me feel so uncomfortable but I think the author does a fantastic job of putting us in Sarah's shoes, allowing us to feel her total helplessness to defend herself, to fight off what she knows is going to happen, to feel that total darkness is going to engulf her and there is nothing she can do.

Sarah is a college professor with a powerful, ruthless, out of control sex fiend of a boss but her husband has left her and she is supporting herself and her two children and can't leave her job to find another job that would pay much less. Sarah thinks she can just tough things out, ignore veiled threats and obvious advances, and move up the ladder but her boss makes it clear to her that's not the case. Sarah realizes she is on the brink of ruin because her boss can play God with her career, her body, and her life.

Due to a random incident, Sarah is given a chance to make a difference in her life, to get out from under this tyrant but it goes against everything that is right. Still, she considers whether she would allow something very bad to happen if there was no chance for that thing to ever be connected to her and if that thing would allow her to have a safe, unmolested life. Sarah is trapped and feels like she has nowhere to turn but can she accept what is being offered to her, with just a few simple restrictions?

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for this ARC.

After 25 chapters, this book made it to my unfinished pile. I could not take the main character and knew she was written by a man before I had looked up T.M. Logan himself.

Women worry about their children and their job and yes many have a hard time speaking up, there are no admirable qualities to our MC. I also wouldn't give her a promotion. She isn't a leader, isn't knowledgeable and the pathetic way she keeps clinging onto the idea of her shit husband pissed me off.

It was frustrating, and I spent the majority of the book waiting for her to get a grip.

29 Seconds by T.M. Logan sounded like a book I would devour from the moment I read the blurb. I was expecting a fast paced, suspenseful, addicting thriller.

Unfortunately, this one fell a bit flat for me. I felt like there were more slow moments in the story than not. There were several moments that felt fast paced and suspenseful, but they were only short moments sprinkled throughout the book. Sarah's inner monologues were a huge part of what slowed this book down and made me lose interest a few times. I frequently felt like her thoughts were rambling more than necessary.

29 Seconds was overall a thriller with an interesting concept that just fell a bit short of the mark for me.

I voluntarily received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book blew me away! There was so much going on in Sarah's life. Alan, one of the professors in her department, was pure evil. It was unbelievable what he put Sarah, and all those other women in the past, through. It's no wonder she wanted to make him suffer and rid the world of him.

As an intricate web is woven around her, Sarah's life spins out of control. This book had me on the edge of my seat worrying about her and wondering what was going to happen next. I found myself reading as fast as I could as I raced to the surprising conclusion. I loved it!!
