Y se me ha acabado Kamala. ¿Y qué hago yo ahora de mi vida? Vamos a ver. Espero que se tome unas vacaciones, que las necesita. Y vosotros leerla. Es maravillosa, y todo lo que le rodea: sus amigos, su familia y New Jersey.

I mean, let's face it. If you read Ms. Marvel vol 1-7, you know what to expect out of this one. Same great writing, fantastic art, plenty of fun. This book does a great job of applying the current political climate to events happening in the book, without being too heavy-handed.

Ms. Marvel has lost its spark for me. I'll read the last one to finish off this series but not sure I'll read more about the character in the future.

This eighth voume begins to build back momentum lost by the series in previius story arcs. Kamala is at her besta as JC's guardian superhero. The retun of Becky, the fascist next door, and Chuck, the Hydra real estate developer, is a nice touch.

3.5 stars.

While I enjoyed the story in general, the wackiness of this series has started to wane on me. I also didn't like how the last issue or two was about an entirely new plot. Typically I view volumes as one singular storyline. This volume had two. While the plot twist with Discord was interesting, the way we shifted from story A to story B made it feel like story A was rushed while story B felt drawn out given how small-scale the runaway train situation was despite taking place over two issues.

Another great story combining personal adolescent struggles, social justice issues, and insight into the Muslim community in the US. And of course some cool fights!
