This continues to be a very pure, incredibly important series about growth and learning and friendship

It's good to get back into this series, it's one of my favorites. I LOVE the art in these books, really is nice and has a natural flow to things. There is a lot to balance here for Ms. Marvel, superhero-ing, school, life, community, and now a hostile political group.

This took a more serious turn, as the volume echos some of the political atmosphere that is happening currently. I personally like this, gives readers perspective of how it is affecting other people. Also brings in a good question about being a superhero in this time. How does a hydra member being a position of community power bring/take to your super hero table. This is something I how they dive more into. I really think this comic has some good political/superhero commentary.

Train ride was a bit of a yawn? I'm glad to see Red Dagger again, I guess this is an idea issue for them to talk and connect? I'm also wondering about Ms. Marvel's time alone and how she will grow from this volume.

Meh, contrived and tedious compared to past volumes but not totally bereft of value.

Another solid installment in the Ms. Marvel series. Kamala comes to the rescue when the mayor's office has been overthrown and the new head honcho wants to round up anyone in New Jersey who has superpowers and make them register as "dangerous" or deport them. Kamala isn't about to let Jersey become Nazi Germany so she tries to put it a stop to the program even though it's clear that there are many people who would be happy to see everyone with superpowers gone.

I was a tad bit disappointed with the direction they took with the whole Zoe-Naqia thing, but it was still beautifully written.

As much as I love this series, volume 8 might be my least favorite installment so far. And it wasn't just the bad legal takes (why was a federal court involved in a state issue...?), but because not very much happened. Oh, well. I'll still be picking up the next one (are there seriously only two left?!)!

"Most of the time, super-heroing means protecting the many from the evil of the few. But if there's one thing the last couple of days have taught me...it's that sometimes you gotta protect the few from the collective evil of the many. Which, as it turns out, is much, much harder."

I loved this comic and found Ms. Marvel very relatable in this volume. Kamala Khan is dealing with imposter syndrome and struggling to see her relevance as a superhero as she continues to battle injustice and gentrification in Jersey City. I felt that this volume highlighted how difficult it could be to continue fighting systemic injustices and how tiring it can be on our psyche. I wholeheartedly recommend this volume if you are going to pick up any one volume from the Ms. Marvel series.

I felt a little conflicted about this one as far as my rating went because there were moments where it was really dragging and Kamala did her usual two steps forward one step back routine. However it came through in the end. I also really enjoyed further diving into Kamala’s mental health because so much about her life has changed, it would be crazy to think that her mental health wasn’t being affected by it all.

Paired with a glass of wine on a Friday night. The series does such a great job of shining a light against the darkest moments of our current time and still finding hope and unity.
